Honoring Dr. Tuncay
Renowned for his groundbreaking work in orthodontics, retired Philadelphia orthodontist Dr. Orhan Tuncay is prominently recognized for his involvement in the creation and development of the Invisalign® System, a revolutionary advancement in orthodontic treatment.
His orthodontic office in the Rittenhouse area of Philadelphia, PA, is celebrated as the “Birthplace of the Invisalign® System.”
Dr. Tuncay is also known for his work on the biology of tooth movement, meta-analyses, facial aesthetics, and 3D imaging and animation of the human face. He proudly holds the patent for his innovations in the field of 3D imaging.
Writing & Publishing
Invisalign®
His textbook, “The Invisalign® System,” is the first published textbook on Invisalign in the world. It was translated into Chinese and has become the most widely read and influential Invisalign textbook.
Additionally, he is the founding editor of four different international journals, including:
- Orthodontics & Craniofacial Research, published by Wiley (formerly Munksgaard).
- A journal owned by the Italian Society of Orthodontics (Societa Italiana Di Ortodonzia) and is entitled Progress in Orthodontics, published by Quintessence. Cases & Commentaries in Orthodontic Technology.
- Clinical Reports & Techniques (in Invisalign).
Journal Articles & Lectures
Dr. Tuncay’s editorial leadership of four different periodicals marks an unprecedented distinction in the field. His prolific career is further highlighted by contributing to nearly 200 publications, enhancing the scientific and clinical literature in orthodontics.
Plus, his history of lecturing, both domestically and internationally, underpins his status as a leader and innovator in orthodontics, particularly noted for his early involvement in developing the Invisalign® System.
